Mud Creek Pet Memorial Tree Planting
On October 14th, 2017, several members of the Chatham-Kent Veterinary Healthcare Team attended the annual Mud Creek Pet Memorial Tree planting ceremony. Please find below the speech read at the ceremony by our General Manager Jennifer Knights.
“This is the 17th year of the tree planting ceremony that was founded by our group of veterinary hospitals and for families of the area. In the past 17 years we have planted over 236 trees along this green belt area.
A few thank you’s to make this day possible are—Thank you to all the staff volunteers that are here today to help share in your memories. Thank you to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent for allowing us to use their property to have a special place to go and walk and remember. Thank you to St. Croix Memorial for engraving the memorial stones at the end of St. Michael Ave. Thank you also to Dr. Amanda Estabrooks for creating some wonderful memory pages with the pictures that have been provided to us in our scrapbooks, which we do display at each of our hospitals.
Today we gather in memory of our special friends that have passed on over the past year… Today please remember the special times spent with your dear friend, and as we plant this tree it reinforces the feeling that they are not forgotten.
The moment that you left me, my heart was split in two,
one side was filled with memories, the other
side died with you.
I often lay awake at night when the world
is fast asleep, and
take a walk down memory lane with
tears upon my cheek. Remembering you is easy,
I do it every day, but missing
you is a heartache that never goes
away. I hold you tightly within my
heart and there you will remain.
You see life has gone on without you,
but will never be the same.
Today we are planting 11 new trees in Memory and Honor of all our special friends, the Memorial stone is located at the end of St. Michaels street, and the names of the pets we are here to celebrate and remember are engraved on those stones.
Trees are being planted today in memory and honour of the following friends:
Ch. Justin McKenty-Tanguay
Otch. Silver McKenty- Tanguay
Stella Puntch
Shamus O’Neill
Donny Timbit Easun
Mac Adams
Jaxon Reid
Ryan Restorick
Restorick Family Pets
Roxy Tatchell
Millie Reid
Thank you everyone for coming and joining us today. We will begin to plant the trees now. Afterwards you are free to gather together and have some refreshments.”
